SENT Festival

The SENT Festival is organized and held at First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA.  It was created as an avenue for members and non members alike to discover their own paths of ministry using their unique talents and skills.  Everyone is at a different stage in their life and has different opportunities to use their gifts for good.  Some people are caring for family members, some have interests in volunteering locally, and some choose a more global approach, taking their ministry abroad.  With so many different opportunities, the SENT Festival helps participants focus and gain a better understanding of ways they can help.  It also helps connect potential volunteers to local community organizations, giving them time to meet with representatives, ask questions, and hopefully find and opportunity that excites them.

September 2016 will be the 2nd annual SENT Festival.  This video was created to help potential attendees better understand the energy and excitement by hearing from some of last years participants.

Lindsay + Graham

Lindsay and Graham called upon us last minute to capture their December ceremony at the General Sutter Inn.  The reason I say ceremony instead of wedding is they plan on hosting a reception in April.  The ceremony itself was a very small, intimate gathering of family and close friends.  This video was important to them for the sake of sharing the ceremony with a much larger group of guests at the reception in April.  Graham also happened to be the first groom that we’ve worked with to be so anxious to kiss his new bride that he almost jumped the gun!  Best wishes to Lindsay and Graham on their worldly adventures!

Friendship Heart Gallery Art Auction

The Friendship Heart Gallery Art Auction is held yearly to raise funds for the Friendship Heart Gallery and it’s inspiring artists. Successful local artists like Liz Hess and Freiman Stoltzfus donate paintings and portions of their sales alongside works from the artists at Friendship Heart Gallery. This year the art auction is being held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, PA on February 28th.

GP Film and Photography was responsible for producing a 4-5 minute piece out of 12 interviews from sponsors and contributing artists to tell the story of Friendship Heart Gallery Art Auction on February 28th, 2014.  We interviewed a group of 12 people from sponsors to volunteers to contributing artists about why they support the Friendship Heart Gallery Art Auction.

From that 4-5 minute piece, GP Film & Photography was asked to create a 30 second teaser for broadcast purposes. Here’s what an hour and half of voice over and 3 hours of filming cut down to 30 seconds looks like. Enjoy!

A Snowy Sunday

I decided to take the Mark iii for a walk downtown for the first snowy Sunday in Lancaster.  The goal was to practice double exposure.  My friend Karlo, of Karlo Photography, introduced me to the double exposure capabilities built in to the canon 5d Mark iii, and the snow seemed an appropriate test subject with my friend Emily Leslie.  The idea is to capture the subject with a blown out background for the first shot, and then capture some type of organic texture with the second shot.  The textures from the second shot will appear through the darkest areas of the first photograph, creating a double exposure.

After playing with the double exposure method, Emily and I walked towards downtown Lancaster to see what else looked unique under the white blanket of snow.  I was caught by Steinman Park and the reflections of the lit trees on the wet bricks.  To capture the full luminance of the scene I combined multiple exposures and tonemapped the HDR version.

En route to Irish Coffees at Annie Bailey’s, we snagged one more shot of the fountain and Lancaster Square.  This shot is an extended exposure, with the shutter open a full 30 seconds.

Thank You Lancaster!

Thank you Lancaster! From the Lancaster County Community Foundation and all non profit organizations involved in the 2013 Extraordinary Give.  A community event of giving, the 24 hour Extraordinary Give raised over $3.2 MILLION!  Lancaster, PA stepped up to the philanthropy plate and knocked it out of the park, outdoing even Miami, FL in total donations.

Karlo Photography Wedding Album

The closest thing to seeing and feeling the Karlo Photography Wedding Album in person. GP Film and Photography produced this short piece for Karlo Photography at the last minute over Thanksgiving week.  The project came together quickly with the help of some family friends, a first time hand model, and power outage during our only opportunity to film.  With no lights and a 3 hour time window, we had to adapt to our surroundings and use any natural light we could find in the house.  As a byproduct of the adverse shooting conditions, we found great shots with a candle lit chandelier, the sun room, and even outside the house (in the rain…) Needless to say, the teams ability to be flexible and work together certainly helped pull this piece together.

Be sure to watch in “1080 HD” for full resolution.
